Prof. Barreto in Times on “Climate” of 2016 Hispanic Vote

New to UCLA this year, Political Science and Chicana/o Studies Prof. Matt Barreto recently spoke with the International Business Times, sourced for expert feedback on the results of a recent poll showing that a much higher percentage of Latinos are concerned about the effects of climate change, when compared to non-Hispanic whites.  With others, Prof. Barreto explained that Latinos often have more exposure to pollution, which has led to a growing “environmental movement in Latino communities.”  All this makes the environment a key campaign issue next year.

Prof. Barreto — most recently on faculty at the University of Washington — is also a co-founder of Latino Decisions, a political polling firm that surveys and analyzes the Latino vote.
