Joel Aberbach studies bureaucracies, electoral behavior, and American government. He is the founding director of the Center for American Politics and Public Policy at UCLA. He has been a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, a scholar with the Brookings Institute, and a Fellow with the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences. Aberbach is the author of several books, including In the Web of Politics: Three Decades of the U.S. Federal Executive and Keeping a Watchful Eye: The Politics of Congressional Oversight, both published by the Brookings Institution Press. Aberbach teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on the American executive branch. He consults for such clients as the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and National Public Radio.
