Student Employment
Reader Positions
Readers assist with the reading and grading of students' papers and exams under the guidance and supervision of faculty members. Readers are appointed on an hourly basis. The current hourly wage is:
$12.53/hr for graduate students
$11.90/hr for undergraduate students
Preference will also be given to Political Science majors and to those students who have earned at least a 'B' in the course for which they wish to read. Readers must be registered, enrolled in at least 12 units, and have a 3.0 GPA.
Undergrads must have taken and earned at least a 'B' grade in the course for which they are applying.
Reader positions are represented by a collective bargaining unit (UAW). The contract between the University of California and UAW can be found at:
